my portfolio.
i may or may not have already shared this here, but i finally bit the bullet and sent my application into the visual arts department at byu. to be completely honest, i won't be too terribly disappointed if i'm not accepted - it was more for peace of mind than anything else. there is definitely a plan b.
i applied to the graphic design and photography programs, but could only send in one portfolio of 10 pieces. here is what i came up with - i'm hoping it came across as diverse rather than scattered :)
[for the photography portions, they advise that creativity be a bigger priority than quality - so that's what i was going for]
1. madisyn
2. food critic
3. jack+nate
4. ashley
5. be mine
6. lizzie - 10x10 acrylic on canvas
7. q+a - 16x16 acrylic on canvas
8. nate - 10x10 acrylic on canvas
9. golden gate - 10x10 charcoal drawing
10. lily - 11x16 charcoal drawing
i let out a big sigh of relief when it was all sent off via fedex overnight. yeah, i'm one of those last-minute kind of girls. i'm working on it :)
xoxo.

14 left some love.:
I love it! I hope you get in, but even if you don't, know that your work is awesome and tons and TONS of people agree (and you can still make money without getting into the BYU vis. arts program). But I hope you get in, because that'd be awesome. One of my good friends did illustration and painting there, and she went to Ghana a couple years ago to paint the pioneers of the church over there....someday, we're going to put our degrees to use and I'm going to write a children's book and she'll illustrate.
Even if you don't get in...or if you do, we'll still have you do our family photos!
I hope you get in. It would be such a great way to learn more and get even better at what you're already awesome at. We'll keep our fingers crossed for you. I love the pieces you chose. Way to go!
Jana you are amazing!! I had no idea what you could do!! I seriously want some of your work! We should be getting into our home end of March. You should totally come out. We can go on walks, get yogurt, make cookies, and go to the beach!!!
I am so in love with that picture of Madisyn! I'm glad you can use it to help you get get into the arts program. It's great that you just went ahead and applied. I hope you get in! What a great experience :) My fingers are crossed! Either way I will always love your work :)
Your work is amazing Jana! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you, they would be FOOLS not to scoop you up! :)
These are SO good, Jana! Good luck! It's a touch program to get into, but your work is amazing.
